Sydney has been host to World Youth Day this past week and the festivities continue through the coming weekend.
One of my observations of this event which has certainly taken over the city is the joy on the faces of the thousands of youth from all over the world who have come here.
Every day I'm walking past groups of young people singing and dancing in the streets, parks, on trains and well, just about everywhere. (Almost like in a musical where people suddenly burst into song!)
Although some Sydney residents have been rather put off by the road closures and various other challenges to every day life the event has brought, I suspect that it's really hard to be ill tempered when you see so many joyous faces.
Personally, I've got some pretty strong opinions about the politics, the church, religion in general and various aspects surrounding this event. None of those opinions are going to get in the way for me to simply enjoy seeing people so happy.
So, to the many pilgrims who have flocked to Sydney I say, "Welcome!"
Coaching Exercises
1. What would it take for you to be joy-filled today?
2. How can you help someone else be joy-filled today?
3. Remember a time when you were joy-filled. Relive the moment in your mind. Now, choose something which will remind you of that feeling so that you can access it any time. For example, a colour, or possibly tie a piece of string around your wrist. Every time you see that colour, or look/touch that string, your joy-filled moment will flood back into your conscious present.
4. What are you committing to today?
As always, if you need any further personal support in response to any of these coaching exercises, please consider using the askacoach.com service.
All the best,
