This series looks at what Emotional Intelligence is by exploring the 25 components over 26 days!
This is the 26th and final instalment of a series of 26 blog entries looking at Emotional Intelligence.
The series is based on the work of Daniel Goleman in his book Working With Emotional Intelligence .
Emotional Intelligence is broken up into two parts: Personal Competence and Social Competence. You need to understand yourself first before you can understand others. You need to understand how to be good at self-leadership before you can be effective leading others.
This and the rest of this series now focus on Social Competence.
Under the category of Social Skills, we find our thirteenth and final part of Social Competence - Team Capabilities.
This means creating group synergy in pursuing collective goals.
Therefore, here are today's coaching questions for you.
Coaching Exercises
1. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest, how would you rate yourself in terms of enhancing team capabilities?
2. What does "creating group synergy" mean to you? How do you do it? What are the specific behaviours?
3. For what reasons would you want to support pursuing collective goals? How important is this to you? How important is this to the group?
4. What are your specific strengths in these areas?
5. Where is there room for improvement? How would you measure the outcome of that improvement if you were to put it into place?
6. As a result of these questions and your considered responses to them, what are you committing to?
As always, if you need any further personal support in response to any of these coaching exercises, please consider using the askacoach.com service.
All the best,
Noel
