A friend shared a video link with me today from YouTube, and I must say that it absolutely shocked me. Really, I was stunned.
Now granted, this video was produced most likely with the direct intent of highlighting just these opinions. I'm not naive about this. Nonetheless, it doesn't appear as if these opinions were that difficult to find in the first place.
I'm also not making any comment about the political parties involved at all (although I have opinions). That's not why I'm sharing this video.
I'm really quite concerned about the level of fear and hatred which exists throughout the world, in many contexts and on many topics. Fear which helps nurture more fear. People choosing to be uneducated and misinterpret despite having access to a wider viewpoint. It really does frustrate me.
So, there's a bit of a soap box moment, and I'm sure you have your opinions on this subject. (And I don't expect you to agree with me, but I am hoping you'll do some personal exploration of your thoughts and feelings on this.)
Coaching Exercises
1. What are your initial reactions to this video?
2. What are your thoughts on how people generally form opinions such as these?
3. What understanding do you have about how you form you own opinions? Include in your answer how logic, intuition, faith, assumption, fear, hate, love, etc fit into the process for you. There's no judgement on you here...just explore honestly.
4. As a result of these questions and your considered responses to them, what are you committing to?
As always, if you need any further personal support in response to any of these coaching exercises, please consider using the askacoach.com service.
All the best,
Noel
