I am a huge cat fan - there's no hiding it.
I also believe we have much to learn from cats and other animals we have as companions, as well as those in the wild.
And I believe cats (and dogs and other animal campanions!) do wonderful things for us humans. They nurture us, support us, teach us and remind us to play, and love us.
So, I thought to look for some great cat quotes and came across a wonderful website with the below quotes:
1."The smallest feline is a masterpiece."
~ Leonardo da Vinci
2. "There's no need for a piece of sculpture in a home that has a cat."
~ Wesley Bates
3."I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul."
~ Jean Cocteau
4."Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose."
~ Garrison Keillor
5."A meow massages the heart."
~ Stuart McMillan
6. "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats."
~ Albert Schweitzer
7."Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat."
~ Mark Twain
8. "How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven."
~ Robert A. Heinlein
9."I believe cats to be spirits come to earth. A cat, I am sure, could walk on a cloud without coming through."
~ Jules Verne
10."A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not."
~ Ernest Hemingway
Coaching Exercises
1. What do you believe to be the benefits of humans and animals companions sharing their lives together? Think about this seriously, even if you don't have an animal companion and regardless of what you think of cats or dogs specifically.
2. We all face moments which could cause stress, and sometimes it feels as if those moments are increasing. How do you, or could you, connect with animals more as a stress-reducing strategy? Many studies, and common believe, indicate that time spent with animal companions is good for us emotionally, so this seems to be a very relevant question for all of us.
3. How do you, or could you, help someone else out emotionally through animals? This could range anything from providing an opportunity to share time with your animal companion, getting them their own, watching documentaries on animal life, or even a plush toy of an animal. Lots of options. Brainstorm.
4. As a result of these questions and your personal exploration and answers, what are you committing to?
As always, if you need any further personal support in response to any of these coaching exercises, please consider using the askacoach.com service.
